Theodore and Elaine Iwaniw will celebrate their diamond wedding anniversary on May 31, 2018, with 60 years of marriage. The two were united in 1958 at St. Vladimir’s Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Edwardsville, by the late Rev. Lawrence Zakrevsky.

Mrs. Iwaniw is the former Elaine Opet, daughter of the late Anna (Kotzer) and John Opet. Mr. Iwaniw is son of the late Fenia (Slawich) and Frank Iwaniw.

Born and raised in Wilkes-Barre, they both attended Coughlin High School where they were “high school sweethearts.” Shortly after their wedding, they moved to Portsmouth, Va., to make a home and start a family, as Theodore began his career at Norfolk Naval Shipyard. They are blessed with four children, eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren (and a third on the way).

God grant them many more happy and healthy years! Mnohaya Lita!
