Angelo F. Grasso, 84, of Yates Street, Forty Fort, died Sunday at Hospice
of the VNA Inpatient Unit, Heritage House, Wilkes-Barre.
   
Born April 19, 1918, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was a son of the late Frank and
Maria (Gionfriddo) Grasso. He graduated from Meyers High School and Ohio State
University. He resided in Forty Fort since 1976. He was president of the
United Pants Co., Swoyersville and Plymouth. He served in the U.S. Army during
World War II, being discharged as a captain. He was a member of the St.
Mary’s-St.Stephen’s Church Community, Plymouth; the Catholic Layman’s Retreat
League; and was member and past president of St. Mary’s Usher Club. He served
as the general chairman of the Plymouth Centennial Celebration. He was a Red
Cross, Plymouth representative and chairman of the Plymouth Flood Committee.
He was past president of Luzerne County American Diabetes Association and the
Plymouth Kiwanis Club. He was past lieutenant governor of the Pennsylvania
District Kiwanis and served on the board of directors of the Plymouth office
of Wyoming National Bank.
    He was preceded in death by his brother, Vincent; and sister, Angelina
Siracuse.
   
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, the former Helen Mikus; son, Frank, Del
Ray Beach, Fla.; daughters, Toni, Forty Fort; Donna Cox, Boyton Beach, Fla.;
four grandchildren; sister, Carmela Natale, Tinton Falls, N.J.; and numerous
nieces and nephews.
   
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday from the S.J. Grontkowski
Funeral Home, 530 W. Main St., Plymouth, with a Mass of Christian Burial at
10:30 a.m. in St. Mary’s Nativity Church, Plymouth. Entombment will be in
Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton, Kingston Township.
   
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
   
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hospice of the
VNA Inpatient Unit of the Heritage House, Wilkes-Barre.
