Alice M. Maletta, of North Washington Street, North End section of
Wilkes-Barre, died Saturday in Hospice Community Care Inpatient Unit at Mercy
Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.
   
Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late William and Anna M.
(Perzel) Maletta. She was educated in Wilkes-Barre schools, and was a graduate
of the former Saint Nicholas High School, Wilkes-Barre. She worked as a
customer-service representative for PNC Bank. She was a member of Sacred
Heart/Saint John’s Parish Community, Wilkes-Barre, where she was a member of
its Altar and Rosary Society. She was a board member of the Slovak Heritage
Society of Northeastern Pennsylvania and served as current treasurer of the
First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association Senior Branch 615, Wilkes-Barre. She
was a member of the Ladies Pennsylvania Slovak Catholic Union, served as a
volunteer at Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre, and was a former secretary of the
American Institute of Banking.
    She was preceded in death by her brother, William.
   
Surviving are her sister, Jeanne A. Rollman, West Wyoming; a niece and
nephew; and a great-niece and nephew.
   
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday from the John V. Morris Funeral
Home, 625 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, followed by a Concelebrated Funeral Mass
at 9:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church, with principal
celebrant the Rev. Monsignor Francis J. Beeda, STL; the Rev. Monsignor John J.
Sempa; and the Rev. Joseph T. Gilbert officiating. Interment will be in the
parish cemetery, Dallas.
   
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today, with a Vigil Service at
night and the recitation of the rosary at 3 p.m. by the church’s Altar and
Rosary Society.
   
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society,
Wilkes-Barre; Hospice Community Care, Kingston; or to Sacred Heart/Saint
John’s Parish Community.
