John Remakus

    John Remakus, 75, of South Walnut Street, Wilkes-Barre Township, died
Saturday at Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.
   
Born June 15, 1927, in Wilkes-Barre Township, he was a son of the late
Herman and Josephine (Andrulavage) Remakus. He graduated from Wilkes-Barre
Township High School. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II, in the
U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and also served with the Naval Reserves.
He worked as a supervisor of records for the Department of Corrections in
Washington, D.C. He was a member of American Legion Post 248, Oxon Hill, Md.;
the Elks Club and the Loyal Order of the Moose, Camp Springs, Md.
   
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond and Albert.
   
Surviving are his wife, the former Helen Pinkard; brother, Benjamin,
Wilkes-Barre Township; and numerous nieces and nephews
   
Funeral services will be Wednesday from the Currie Funeral Home,
Kilmarnock, Va. Interment will be in the Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery,
Callao, Va.
   
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home,
Park Avenue and South Street, Wilkes-Barre.
