AREA ROUNDUP The College Misericordia men’s basketball team will visit
MAC Freedom League power DeSales in the opening round of the Eastern College
Athletic Conference South Regional championships tomorrow.

It marks the second consecutive ECAC bid and third overall for
Misericordia. The Cougars are 16-11, including last Thursday’s 97-65 loss to
Neumann in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference playoffs.
Misericordia beat DeSales in ECAC opening-round play last year, and lost to
the Bulldogs, 62-47, in the third game of the 2002-03 season.

The Cougars are led by senior guard Willie Chandler, the second-leading
scorer in NCAA Division III history with 2,877 points. Chandler, who averages
26.3 points and 8.9 rebounds, needs 64 points to become the all-time Division
III scoring leader.

Senior forward Jason Perry is second on the team with 12.5 points and 5.4
rebounds per game. Chandler and Perry continue to add to their record of 4,495
points as the highest-scoring teammates in Division III history.

In other first-round games, top-seeded Franklin & Marshall hosts Moravian,
Penn State-Behrend hosts Thiel, and Neumann visits Grove City.

Misericordia is the only area men’s team participating in the ECAC
playoffs. King’s did not apply for a bid, and Wilkes withdrew its application.
