Sam Friedman

    Sam Friedman, 99, formerly of Wilkes-Barre and Gateway Apartments,
Edwardsville, died Monday in Village Oaks at Tusckawilla, Orlando, Fla.
   
Born in Old Forge, he was a son of the late David and Minnie Friedman. He
attended Old Forge Schools. He worked as a salesman for Peoples Household,
Wilkes-Barre. He was a member of Ohav Zedek, Wilkes-Barre; Ohav Shalom,
Florida; and Knights of Pithius.
   
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Pauline “Pessel” Morris;
brothers, Abe, Max, Benny and Leo; sisters, Kate Newirth, Rebecca Halprin and
Ann Weissman.
   
Surviving are his daughters, Marilyn Kaplan, Orlando, Fla.; Lila Maier,
Kingston; son, Michael, Orlando, Fla.; seven grandchildren; nine
great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
   
Funeral services will be Wednesday in Florida.
   
Shiva will be observed at the house of his daughter, Lila Maier, 352 Pierce
St., Apt. 5, Kingston, from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Saturday; from 2 to 4
and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sunday and Monday; and from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday.
