William Mikolajek

    William Mikolajek, 91, of Orchard Street, Warrior Run, died Sunday at
Hospice Community Care Unit at Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.
   
Born June 20, 1911, in Calacia, Poland, he was a son of the late John and
Matilda (Richter) Mikolajek. He served in the U.S. Army as a private first
class with the 97th infantry division during World War II. He worked as a
plasterer. He was a member of the Plaster and Cement Masons Local 150; the
Holy Family Church, Sugar Notch; and the American Legion Post 176, Warrior
Run.
   
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Elizabeth Smith and Frances Labak.
   
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, the former Josephine Kendzior; sons,
William R., Warrior Run; John, Flemington, N.J.; four grandchildren; two
great-grandchildren; sister, Gertrude Unice, Danville; and nieces and nephews.
   
American Legion Post 176 will conduct military funeral services at 8:45
a.m. Thursday from the Stanley S. Stegura Funeral Home Inc., 614 S. Hanover
St., Nanticoke, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Family
Church with the Rev. John S. Terry officiating. Interment will be in St.
Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township.
   
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with the American Legion
conducting services at 7 p.m.
   
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hospice Community
Care, Kingston.
