DANNY ARGO, 51, OF 4 JOHNSON ST., HAS ANNOUNCED HE WILL SEEK THE DEMOCRATIC
NOMINATION FOR A SEAT ON PITTSTON CITY COUNCIL IN THE MAY 20TH PRIMARY
ELECTION. HE IS A 1970 GRADUATE OF THE WEST SIDE AREA VOCATIONAL-TECHNICAL
HIGH SCHOOL AND ATTENDED LUZERNE COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE. He is the father
of three children, all of whom live in Pittston.
Argo has worked as a music therapist at Valley Crest Nursing Home for the
past 24 years.
He has served as vice president of the executive board of Local 72 United
Food and Commercial Workers Union. He is a part-time musician, and was
involved in various local baseball organizations. Argo is vice president of
St. Rocco’s Holy Name Society and is active with the Pittston Orioles Mother
of the Rosary club.
In a press release, Argo says he believes the city is on the “brink of
financial crises” and is “concerned that the police department is being used
as an instrument to garner revenue to make up for the fiscal incompetency.”
He added that he believes there are too many police and police vehicles for
a city the size and population of Pittston. Argo advocates a “No” vote for
the home rule referendum that could appear on the primary ballot.
