Misericordia splits in Florida
KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Pitcher Rachael Matthews scattered seven hits, struck out
three and walked only one to lead Misericordia to a 7-3 victory on Tuesday
over Clarke (Iowa) at the Rebel Spring Games.
Angie Wincek smacked a two-run double and scored a run, Kirsten Lazorka
singled twice and drove in a run and Kerri Buckman, a Coughlin graduate, added
a single for the Lady Cougars (4-2).
Earlier in the day, Misericordia lost to Blufton (Ohio) 3-2 via the
international tiebreaker rule (the last batter from the seventh inning goes to
second base and the teams play from there until one team scores).
Kirsten Lazorka singled and doubled and knocked in two runs and teammate
Melissa Eck singled and doubled for the Lady Cougars. Mindy Brown took the
loss on the mound for Misericordia.
On Monday, Misericordia beat John Carroll (Ohio) 5-0 and downed Heidelberg
(Ohio) 6-1. On Sunday, Misericordia beat Muhlenburg 12-8 and fell to
Washington (Mo.) 1-0.
Misericordia is off today and returns to action tomorrow against Maryville
(Tenn.) and Kean (N.J.). The Lady Cougars return to Pennslvania Saturday
night.
