WILKES-BARRE – A proposed methadone clinic in Plains Township will not
affect plans to offer bus transportation to a methadone clinic in Allentown,
the man organizing the trips said Tuesday.

Bruce Scran of Hanover Township said he’s continuing with the plan, but he
had to alter it to exclude State Line methadone clinic in Phillipsburg, N.J.,
because officials there rejected the proposal.
Scran said State Line officials have received complaints from neighbors and
were concerned that having a busload of people arriving at the clinic would
foster additional complaints.

Scran said the New Directions clinic in Allentown has embraced his
proposal. The transportation is being provided by Auto-Bus of Mountain Top.
The first bus is scheduled to leave from the Wegmans parking lot in
Wilkes-Barre Township at 10 a.m. on Monday. Cost is $15 per person, round
trip.

Scran said he’s received about 20 inquiries into the bus trips and is
hopeful additional people will sign on by Monday. Ed Deets, owner of Auto-Bus,
previously said he needed at least 30 people on the bus to cover his expenses.

Scran is urging anyone interested in the transportation to contact him at
822-9304.
