Wilkes University junior guard Dave Plisko has been named to the Freedom
All-Conference first team in a balloting of the conference coaches.
   
Plisko, who was the 2001 Freedom Rookie of the Year, is joined on the first
unit by Conference Most Valuable Player Derek Elphick of Scranton, Tommy
Wesner and Matt Stackhouse of Lycoming and Jim Zinn of DeSales.
    Plisko, who moved to the point guard position for the final nine games of
the season, averaged 16.1 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists and two steals per
game for the Colonels.
   
King’s men
   
King’s College men’s basketball standouts Kasim Holloman and Dannie Evans
have been named to the MAC Freedom second team.
   
The duo led King’s to a 16-10 record and the semifinal round of the Freedom
League Tournament.
   
A senior guard and four-year starter, the 6-foot Holloman led King’s in
scoring with 15.5 points per game while adding 42 three-point field goals, 3.6
rebounds and 2.4 assists per game.
   
A junior point guard, Evans ranked second on the team in scoring at 13.7
points per game. He added 3.4 assists, 2.7 rebounds and 2.0 steals, and canned
a team-high 59 three-pointers.
   
Misericordia women
   
Three members of the College Misericordia’s women’s basketball team have
been named to the All-PAC team.
   
Leslie Livingstone, a Wyoming Valley West graduate, Colleen Corrigan and
Sandy Olm were all named second-team all-PAC.
   
The Cougars finished 19-9, including 16 wins over the final 19 games, and
advanced to the PAC championship game for the second time in three seasons.
   
Livingstone, a senior point guard, led the PAC in assists for the fourth
consecutive season with 6.2 assists per game. She had a team-high 2.9 steals
per game and was second on the team in rebounding with 5.9 per contest. She
added 10.5 points per game. She broke her school single-season record with 175
assists and holds Misericordia’s career mark with 575.
   
Corrigan, a junior guard, led the team in scoring with 14.3 points per game
and made a team-high 52 three-pointers. She set a school record with seven
three-pointers in a game and tied the school record with 34 points in a game.
   
Olm, a senior forward, was second on the team in scoring (12.0 ppg) and had
a team-high 8.4 rebounds per game. She was second on the team in steals (1.8)
and third on the team in assists (1.9).
   
Olm is also the school’s all-time rebounding leader with 756 boards.
   
Marywood men
   
Two Marywood players were selected to the PAC men’s basketball
all-conference team.
   
Senior Doug Billet was named to the second team squad and teammate Isiah
Walker, a GAR graduate, was named honorable mention.
   
Walker was ranked second in the NCAA for steals per game with four. Walker
led the PAC in steals and was second in assists with 4.3 per game. Walker
broke the school records for steals in a game and season during his 2002-03
campaign.
   
Misericordia men
   
College Misericordia men’s basketball standouts Willie Chandler and Jason
Perry have been named to the PAC all-star team for the fourth consecutive
season.
   
Chandler was a first team All-PAC selection and was voted PAC Player of the
Year for an unprecedented fourth time while Perry earned second team honors.
   
Chandler and Perry led the Cougars to a 16-11 record, including appearances
in the PAC and ECAC playoffs. The Cougars will play at DeSales in a first
round ECAC playoff game at 7:30 p.m. today.
   
Chandler, a 6-5 guard, led the Cougars and the PAC in scoring for the
fourth straight year with 26.3 points per game. He was third in the PAC with
8.9 rebounds per game and was also third in the league with 2.4 steals per
game. He set a school single-game record with nine steals in a game. He tied
his own school record with nine three-pointers in a game.
   
Perry, a 6-7 center, was second on the team with 12.5 points, 5.4 rebounds
and 2.3 assists per game.
   
Chandler moved into second place on the all-time NCAA D-III scoring charts
with 2,877 points. He and Perry became the highest-scoring teammates in D-III
history with 4,495 points.
   
King’s women
   
King’s College women’s basketball standout Tiffini Varrasse was named the
MAC Freedom Conference Player of the Week.
   
Varrasse enjoyed a dominating floor game in leading King’s to a 2-0 week
and the MAC Freedom Conference championship.
   
In a 81-53 semifinal win over Delaware Valley, Varrasse scored a team-high
16 points with five assists, three steals, and three rebounds, while hitting
4-of-5 from the field and 7-of-8 from the foul line.
   
In King’s 66-56 Freedom Conference title game victory over DeSales, she had
eight points, six assists, three rebounds, two blocks, and one steal.
   
FOOTBALL
   
Wilkes
   
Delaware Valley High School football standouts Jeff Pearson and Bryan
Vivaldo recently announced their intention to continue their academic and
athletic pursuits at Wilkes University.
   
Pearson opted for Wilkes after also being recruited by Division I-AA
schools LaSalle University, Iona College and Sacred Heart, along with Division
II Lock Haven.
   
Vivaldo opted for Wilkes after also being recruited by Brown University,
Lehigh University, Ithaca College, Ursinus College and Moravian College.
   
Pearson played on both the offensive and defensive lines for the Warriors
and is projected as a defensive lineman at Wilkes. A three-year starter on the
high school level, the 6-foot-1, 230-pounder was named a second team
All-Conference honoree as a defensive tackle.
   
Vivaldo was a two-year starter as a free safety. He has also earned letters
in baseball and track and field.
