The poor astronauts on the space shuttle. We’re losing the best and
brightest our country has to offer, a total of 24 killed since NASA’s space
program has begun, an average of seven killed every 17 years. This is
unacceptable.

We need the space program. I believe mankind’s future is exploring other
planets; however, someone must be held accountable every time we have a major
catastrophe, otherwise we become too complacent. If a private company lost
seven lives every 17 years they would be closed up and people put in jail. We
must use robots in deep space probes or we will never get our people back
safely.
