Benjamin Joseph Komorek Sr., 85, of Graham Avenue, Hanover Township, died
Tuesday at Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.
Born Oct. 6, 1917, in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late Jan and Amelia
(Jozefiak) Komorek. He was a 1935 graduate of Meyers High School. He was a
U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving in Europe, and received the Army of
Occupation and World War II Victory medals. He was employed by the
Pennsylvania Railroad Co. and the Hanover Township District as a dispatcher,
map and mural painter, for many years. He was a member of St. Aloysius Church,
Wilkes-Barre and the American Legion Post 609, Hanover Township.
He was preceded in death by son, Albert George; brother, Albert George; and
sister, Mary Saternus.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 62 years, are son, Benjamin J. Jr.,
Nanticoke; daughter, Mary Louise Komorek, Moscow; four grandchildren; a
great-grandson; sister, Kitty Ruff, Winnipeg, Canada; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday from the Robert Bednarski
Funeral Home, 27 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass at 9:30 a.m. at St.
Aloysius Church. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday.
