Bridget Keating/Bishop Hoban The Bishop Hoban yearbook staff is working on
this year’s ARC. These students dedicate several hours each week, during the
school year and the summer, to make the annual publication a success.
Dorothy Cashore, a junior, serves as editor. Staff members work closely
with Lyons Photo Studio in preparing the yearbook. They arrange with the
photographers special times for photo opportunities, such as sports events and
club activities.
Mrs. Paula Vinsko is yearbook moderator. Mrs. Vinsko is serving in her
first year at this position. She and her husband, attorney William Vinsko,
share a special bond with Bishop Hoban, being members of the Class of 1993.
Staff member Christopher Hughes says: “We appreciate Mrs. Vinsko’s enthusiasm
and fresh approach to the ARC.”
On Monday, Latin students at Bishop Hoban will take part in the National
Latin Exam. Students are tested on their knowledge of the Latin language and
of Roman culture through this standardized test. Mrs. Marina Fisher, Latin
teacher, has been working with the Latin I, II, III and IV students to
prepare. Each year, Bishop Hoban students are recognized for their
achievements with award levels ranging from the gold medal to cum laude.
Bishop Hoban will offer an SAT course. This optional course is to prepare
students for taking the SAT exams in May or June and to provide a
comprehensive review in the areas of English and mathematics. The math portion
of the course will be taught by Mr. Chester Hine and will cover topics from
algebra I and II, and geometry. Mr. Michael Booth will teach the English
portion of the course.
A vocabulary list developed from Educational Testing Service will be
presented.
Parents of Bishop Hoban Juniors will meet March 18 in the auditorium to
discuss the senior year and post-secondary education. Topics covered will
include what to expect the senior year, how to select a post-secondary
institution, school visits and financial aid. Melissa Diana, executive
director of Sage Education Resource Group, will present “Planning For College
After The Fact,” which includes creative strategies designed to save thousands
on the high cost of college.
Bridget Keating is a junior at Bishop Hoban High School, Wilkes-Barre.
