The Wyoming Valley West girls swim team captured the team title at the
District 2 AAA Swimming Championships at King’s College.
   
The boys team placed third at districts.
    Athletes representing Valley West at the PIAA AAA State Championship meet
March 15-16 at Penn State are seniors Shana Welch and Megan Panowicz, and
sophomores Sally Kaminski, Erin Lehman and Kim Perzia.
   
Junior James Kane won the District 2 Class 3A regional diving championship
and will compete at states.
   
Coaches are Frank Tribendis, Rob Jacobs, Karen Wills and Steve Klem.
   
Best of luck to all our athletes and coaches at states.
   
Sophomore students will have an opportunity to participate in College
Misericordia’s Diversity Institute Leadership Camp. Students interested must
be able to dorm at the college June 15-20. All interested students may contact
Mrs. Brace.
   
Spring sports started March 3.
   
The Ayn Rand Institute is sponsoring an essay contest for high school
students. Juniors and seniors must write an essay on Ayn Rand’s novel “The
Fountainhead.” The deadline is April 15. Freshmen and sophomores must write an
essay on “Anthem.” Deadline is March 18.
   
The sophomore class recently held an assembly regarding class rings. Orders
will be taken from 8 a.m. to noon and 6 to 9 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to
noon tomorrow. Orders will be taken in the gymnasium lobby.
   
Sally Kaminski is a sophomore at Wyoming Valley West High School, Plymouth.
