David Shipula, a lifelong resident of Hanover Township, has announced he
will seek the Republican and Democratic nominations in the May 20 primary
election for another term on the Hanover Area School Board.
   
Shipula has been on the board since 1985 and served as president from
1990-94. After more than a decade of service to the district, Shipula was
elected president of the Pennsylvania School Boards Association, the statewide
organization consisted of all public school districts and representing more
than 4,500 school board members, according to his release. In 2000, he was
elected a member of the National School Boards Association Nominating
Committee, according to his release.
    Shipula owns and manages Beer Super, Wilkes-Barre, and serves as president
of the Malt Beverage Distributors Association of Pennsylvania, representing
nearly 400 distributors. Shipula and his wife have three children.
