Reputed mobster Billy D’Elia of Hughestown has been permanently banned from
Atlantic City casinos.

In an eight-page petition filed with the New Jersey Casino Control
Commission in late-January, gaming enforcement officials said they wanted
D’Elia banned from casinos because his presence could give the appearance of
unfair or illegal activities.
Last week, the commission announced that D’Elia had denied the allegations
raised by the commission but had waived his right to contest the ban.

`It’s a done deal,” said Kerry Hand, public information officer for New
Jersey’s Department of Law and Public Safety Division of Gaming Enforcement.
“It’s just a matter of when all the paperwork is processed.”

According to published reports, D’Elia wagered $3.6 million during a
six-year period at Resorts Casino and had a combined net loss of $140,318 at
five casinos.

More than 150 people have been placed on the state’s casino exclusion list,
most for ties to organized crime.
