Joseph Chesnalavage

    Joseph A. “Chiz” Chesnalavage, 71, of Claymont Avenue, Hanover Township,
died Wednesday at the Hospice Community Care Inpatient Unit of Mercy Hospital,
Wilkes-Barre.
   
Born June 8, 1931, in Plymouth, he was the son of the late Joseph and Helen
(Yucinshi) Chesnalavage. He was a graduate of Hanover High School. He was a
U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was employed by the United States
Postal Service, Wilkes-Barre and as a clerk in Mountain Top for many years. He
was a member of St. Casimir’s Church, Lyndwood, Hanover Township; the Amvets,
Post 59, Hanover Township and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5267, Hanover
Township.
   
He was preceded in death by a sister, Marlene Chesnalavage.
   
Surviving are his wife of 44 years, the former Antoinette Blaine; sons,
Joseph W., Forty Fort; David M., Newport Township; daughter, Linda Chintalla,
Lyndwood; three grandchildren; sister, Geraldine Crowley, New York; and nieces
and nephews.
   
Funeral services will be at 8:30 a.m. Saturday from the S.J. Grontkowski
Funeral Home, 530 W. Main St., Plymouth, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9
a.m. at St. Casimir’s Church, Lyndwood. Interment will be in St. Mary’s
Cemetery, Hanover Township.
   
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today. A prayer service will be held this
evening at the funeral home.
   
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes
Foundation, or to Hospice Community Care Inpatient Unit, Mercy Hospital,
Wilkes-Barre.
