PLAINS TWP. – The township on Thursday joined Wilkes-Barre in banning all
pyrotechnics inside buildings. The decision was made “due to the fire and
great loss of lives in Rhode Island,” according to Fire Chief Joseph Hoinski,
referring to the 99 deaths caused by a fire ignited by pyrotechnics last
month.

It was not clear if there would be an immediate impact on any local
business. The Woodlands Inn & Resort hasn’t allowed pyrotechnics inside since
the 1980s. A call to management was not returned.
