SUNBURY – Mickey Dudish scored a game-high 15 points as Meyers squeaked by
Milton 32-29 Friday in a PIAA Class 3A first-round playoff game Friday at the
Shikellamy Field House.

The Mohawks (20-8), who advanced to the state tournament by taking the
third slot out of District 2, face Harriton-Daniel Boone on Tuesday at a site
and time to be announced.
The Black Panthers, the champions of District 4, saw their season end at
23-5.

Meyers trailed 17-13 at intermission, but the Mohawks switched from a 2-3
zone to a man defense to start the second half. Milton made just one of its
first 12 shots in the third as Meyers went on a 10-2 run.

Mohawks senior center Chris Cresci and junior forward Chris Lauer combined
for just seven points on the night, but they were a terror inside against the
smaller Black Panthers.

“We established early in the third quarter when we changed our defense
that they weren’t going to get anything easy,” Meyers coach Joe Caffrey said.
“We blocked several shots … and I think it set a tone for us.”

Milton’s Dan Morgan scored on a layup to start the fourth quarter, tying
the game at 25. Dudish answered with a layup and then buried a trey to give
the Mohawks a five-point advantage.

The Black Panthers would get back to within two at 31-29. But Dudish made
one of two free throws with six seconds left for the final count.

Milton’s Justen Lenig (team-high 10 points) missed a three-pointer at the
buzzer that would have sent the game into overtime.
