Big Lots, the nation’s largest close-out retailer, has opened a store at
214 Susquehanna Blvd., Valmont Plaza, West Hazleton.
The store offers furniture as well as brand-name consumables, seasonal
products, housewares, toys and gifts at discounted prices.
The store is open 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday.

Hourigan Home Mortgage Co.
The affiliate of Encore Mortgage Services has opened in the offices of
Realty World-Hourigan Real Estate, 14 S. Mountain Blvd., Mountain Top.
Frank Hourigan, a licensed mortgage broker, is the owner of the mortgage
and real-estate companies. The expansion allows Hourigan to offer mortgage
financing to his real-estate clients and the public.
Encore Mortgage Services is licensed in Florida, New Jersey and
Pennsylvania.

Ben Domiano Optical
The optical firm has opened a new location in the former Rossi’s Market
building at 817 S. Main St., Old Forge.
Ben Domiano’s firm was started by his uncle, Leonard Pintha, as Pintha
Optical.
The new facility offers frames showroom, contact lenses, a full-service
eyeglass laboratory, eye exams by an optometrist and hearing screenings on
Monday evenings by Design Hearing Instruments.
The firm also has a location at 341 Wyoming Ave., West Pittston.

Calvert Laboratories
Calvert Holdings of Cary, N.C., has announced the formation of Calvert
Laboratories, a wholly owned subsidiary focused on contract drug development.
The name change reflects the consolidation of Calvert’s operating units
under one management.
The former Calvert Preclinical Services, with laboratories in Olyphant;
Calvert Archiving Services, with storage facilities in Clarks Summit; and
Calvert Analytical Services, with laboratories in Norristown; and bioCentra
Professional Services, with offices in Davis, Calif., are affected by the
consolidation.

East Mountain Inn & Suites
The Plains Township hotel has completed a year-long, three-quarters of a
million dollar renovation project.
All rooms and suites and some public areas have been refurbished. The rooms
now offer work areas to support computers, voice mail and large-screen
televisions. Many are equipped with microwaves and refrigerators.
High-speed Internet access, additional sports programming and free HBO
along with access to video games will be available by summer.
A full-service business center with computers, printers and direct Internet
access is now located off the main lobby. It is available 24 hours a day to
guests.
