California resident
charged in stabbing
A California man is behind bars on charges he stabbed a male co-worker
Friday night at the Forest Hill Inn.
Morgan Duncan, 26, of Huntington, Calif., was charged with attempted
murder, aggravated assault, simple assault and reckless endangerment in the
stabbing of Lindsay Monroe, 23, of New Bern, N.C. He was flown by Medivac from
Hazleton St. Joseph Medical Center to Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown,
where he was in critical condition with a stab wound to the chest. Hospital
personnel Saturday night said he was no longer at the facility. Police said
the knife went into the front of the victim and out the back.
Duncan was being held Saturday at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility
for lack of $75,000 cash bail.
According to Sugarloaf Township police:
Duncan and Monroe were working in the Berwick area and were drinking before
an argument started in the parking lot of the inn. Duncan stabbed Monroe, who
made it back to their room, with Duncan in pursuit. Another co-worker staying
there held Duncan back while the fourth roommate got help for the victim.
Someone called 911 from the inn at about 10 p.m. about arguing and called
again to say the victim had just fallen. But when police responded they found
blood in the parking lot and a room door kicked in. Inside, police saw large
amounts of blood on the floor and on clothing. An unidentified male in the
room said someone had been stabbed.
Duncan was arrested a short time later with a knife covered in blood.
WEST PITTSTON
Police following up
sex-abuse charges
Police are investigating whether a 29-year-old man accused of photographing
a 17-year-old boy and then sending those pictures over the Internet did the
same thing to other people.
Kenneth William Roberto, of 408 Bloomingdale Road in Shickshinny, was in
the Luzerne County Correctional Facility on Saturday night and has been
charged with sexual abuse of children, corruption of minors, displaying
obscene sexual material, and criminal use of a communication facility.
West Pittston police officer Dave Smith said the teen did a ride-along with
the Pittston Township Ambulance Association – where Roberto worked. Police are
searching for other possible victims.
The boy eventually reported the alleged incident to police, Smith said.
Authorities searched Roberto’s home and found “a whole bunch of child
pornography” on his computer and other mediums. Digital photos of the
17-year-old were also discovered.
