Ernest Cardamone, 82, of Old Forge, died Saturday at Mercy Hospital,
Wilkes-Barre.
   
Born Jan. 2, 1921, in Old Forge, he was a son of the late Vincent James and
Mary (Precone) Cardamone. He was educated in Old Forge schools. He worked as a
construction worker for the Stipp Co. as a coal miner in the area mining
industry and as a tile setter at Anthracite Marble & Tile Co. He also worked
at Sweetheart Candy Co., Old Forge. He was in the U.S. Army during World War
II, serving in Japan. He was a member of St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, Old
Forge; and VFW Post 4954 and American Legion Post 513, both in Old Forge.
    He was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Ida Bocci; and
sister, Victoria Mantell.
   
Surviving are his wife of 15 years, the former Helen Knapik; son, James,
Old Forge; step-son, Anthony Valunas, West Scranton; step-daughters, Laura
Webb, Exeter; Sandra Ozark, West Pittston; two grandchildren; six
step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; brother, Dominic,
Elyria, Ohio; sisters, Vera Perry, Dalton; Anna DeSimone, Long Island, N.Y.;
and numerous nieces and nephews.
   
Funeral services will be at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday from the Victor M. Ferri
Funeral Home, 522 Fallon St., Old Forge, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9
a.m. in St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, with the Rev. Dr. Michael J. Kirwin
officiating. Committal and interment will be in Old Forge Cemetery.
   
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
