Stabbing victim
out of hospital
After being stabbed at a local hotel and flown to Allentown by Medivac
helicopter, a North Carolina man is apparently doing fine.
A spokeswoman from Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown said Lindsay Monroe,
23, of New Bern, N.C., was treated and released Saturday night.
Police charged Morgan Duncan, 26, of Huntington, Calif., with attempted
murder, aggravated assault, simple assault and reckless endangerment in
connection with the stabbing of Monroe.
Police said Duncan and Monroe were working in the Berwick area and were
drinking before an argument started sometime before 10 p.m. Saturday in the
parking lot of the Forest Hill Inn in Sugarloaf Township.
Police said the knife went into the front of the victim and out the back,
and Monroe was listed in critical condition with a stab wound to the chest
Saturday night.
Duncan remained jailed Sunday at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility
for lack of $75,000 cash bail.

Man charged with
DUI after stop
A Luzerne man was arrested Sunday and charged with driving under the
influence of alcohol.
Police said Brian Carlin, 21, of Miller Street, was seen driving through a
red traffic signal at South Pennsylvania Avenue and Hazle Avenue at about 2
a.m. Sunday.
Police said Carlin failed a field sobriety test and was taken to the DUI
Processing Center for videotaping and the administering of an intoxilizer
test.
Carlin was processed and released, police said.

Auto’s rear window
smashed March 1
Someone broke the rear window of a 1999 Kia Sephia owned by Peter Somerdak,
57, of Hazleton, sometime between 8 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. on March 1 while the
vehicle was parked at Pine and Holly streets, police said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Hazleton police at 459-4940.
