John Culver

    John H. “Jack” Culver, 72, of Waterton Road, Shickshinny, died Monday at
Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
   
Born Aug. 19, 1930, in Huntington Township, he was a son of the late Henry
V. Culver and Elzada V. (Comstock) Culver Karns. He graduated from Huntington
Township High School. He worked for UPS as a truck driver. He served in the
U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Town Hill United
Methodist Church, Shickshinny, where he was head usher, trustee, member of the
finance committee and assisted with many other church activities. He was an
active Mason, belonging to Lake Zurich Lodge 1089 F&AM; Sylvania Lodge 354
F&AM, Shickshinny; Lake Zurich Chapter 1089 Order of Eastern Star;
Shick-Shawnee Chapter 190 Order of Eastern Star, Shickshinny; and Caldwell
Consistory, Bloomsburg. He was also a member of American Legion Post 495,
Shickshinny.
   
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, the former E. Jane Harrison; children,
Denise J. Ackermann, Crystal Lake, Ill.; Terry J., Bartlet, Ill.; Thomas H.,
Memphis, Tenn.; Betsy J., Lake Zurich, Ill.; and eight grandchildren.
   
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Town Hill United
Methodist Church, 417 Town Hill Road, Shickshinny, with the Rev. Karen W.
Atanasoff officiating. Interment with military honors will be in Scott
Cemetery, Waterton.
   
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, with Masonic memorial services
at 7 p.m. and Order of the Eastern Star memorial services at 7:30 p.m. at the
Dean W. Kriner Inc. Funeral Home, Benton, or at the church after 10 a.m.
Thursday.
   
The family will provide flowers.
