Robert Haas, of Preston Street, Ashley, died Monday at Geisinger Wyoming
Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.
Born Oct. 26, 1929, in Ashley, he was a son of the late Harry and Mary
(Mosier) Haas. He attended Ashley schools and Nanticoke Vocational-Technical
School. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, serving as a
sergeant loading heavy bombardment planes. He was employed at Harry Haas
Plastering and operated C & R Plastering and Stucco Contractors. He was a
member of the American Legion Post 673, Ashley.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, the former Evelyn Joan Askew; daughter,
Kim Baranosky, Ashley; son, Robert, Ashley; six grandchildren; brothers,
Harry, Lee Park, Jerry, Tunkhannock; sisters, Lorraine Cross, Warrior Run;
Mary Lou Muchichko, Towanda; Barbara Fisher, Mountain Top; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday from the Williams Funeral
Home, 114 W. Main St., Plymouth, with the Rev. Tim Hall, officiating.
Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hanover Township.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today. Military honors will be held by
American Legion Post 673, Ashley.
