Gladys Banicky Mahalick, 82, of South Main Street, Hanover Township, died
Tuesday in the Geisinger of Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.
Born in Weatherly, she was the daughter of the late Ellis and Mary
(Roberts) Davis. She was employed with the housekeeping staff of Wilkes-Barre
Window Cleaning Co. until her retirement. She was a member of the Ladies
Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Lani Post 6325, Hudson; Hudson
Servicemen’s Association; and the Polish American Organization, Hudson.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Michael Banicky; second
husband, Joseph Mahalick; sons, Ronald Banicky, George Banicky and Robert
Davis; grandson, Eric Sabecky; granddaughter, Kerry Ann Davis; sisters, Viola
MacNeal, Catherine Scott, Jean Davis; and brother, Bill Gaumer.
Surviving are daughters, Barbara Provenzano, Brooklyn, N.Y.; Mary Rodgers,
Keansburg, N.J.; JoAnn Kennedy, Hanover Township; Linda Sabecky, with whom she
resided; sons, Joseph Banicky, Manassas, Va.; Andrew Banicky, Foxhill, Plains
Township; Walter Banicky, Kingston; sisters, Dorothy Solt, Gertrude Cole, both
of Palmerton; Mildred Yeager, Skippack; 23 grandchildren; 23 great-grand
children; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday from the Mark V. Yanaitis
Funeral Home, 55 Stark St., Plains Township, with the Rev. Reginald Thomas
officiating. Internment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hanover Township.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.
