Leonard J. Vanchure, 41, of Larksville, died Wednesday at the Department of
Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Plains Township.
   
Born Jan. 27, 1962, in the Parsons section of Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of
Elizabeth (Skupen) Vanchure, Larksville and the late Albert L. Vanchure. He
was a graduate of Pittston Area High School and was a U.S. Army veteran,
serving in Germany with the Squadron Honorary Border Patrol. He was a member
of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Larksville; the American Legion Post 672,
Dallas; and the Eastern Paralyzed Veterans of America.
    He was preceded in death by infant brother, James.
   
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are twin brother, Lawrence, Inkerman;
brothers, Albert, Plains Township; Gerald, Larksville; Kevin, King of Prussia;
sisters, Donna Fowler, Shavertown; RoseAnn Gavin, Pittston; Maureen VanAuken,
Avoca; Betty Ann Ryan, Laflin; Gina Czerniakowski, Hilldale section of Plains
Township; Denise Baron, Throop; numerous nieces and nephews; great-nieces and
nephew; and aunts, uncles and cousins.
   
Funeral services will be at 10:15 a.m. Saturday from the Simon S. Russin
Funeral Home Inc., 136 Maffett St., Plains Township, with a Mass of Christian
Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Larksville, with the Rev.
Gerald Gurka officiating. Interment will be in St. John the Baptist Catholic
Cemetery, Exeter.
   
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. A Christian wake
service will be held Friday afternoon.
