Three city teenagers were arrested Wednesday afternoon after a police
officer’s home was burglarized, police said.

The three boys, who were not identified because of their ages, will be
charged with breaking into the East Chestnut Street home of Wilkes-Barre
police officer Alan Gribble about 4 p.m., police said. Jewelry, an
undetermined amount of cash and compact discs were stolen.

Neighbors gave officers descriptions and the trio was spotted on North Main
Street a short time later, police said. Gribble responded to his home and a
number of officers responded to the Turkey Hill Minit Market at North Main and
Maple streets.

Employee Alice Smith said the three were buying drinks when police entered
about 4:30 p.m. and told her to go into the back room. They also ordered a
female customer to leave.

The teens were arrested without incident and were found with some items
from the home, police said. The three, who are in their mid-teens, were
released to their parents. Charges of burglary, theft and conspiracy will be
