Agnes Demchak

Agnes B. Demchak, 86, of Carey Street, Ashley, died Thursday at the
Inpatient Unit of Hospice Community Care, Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.
Born Sept. 12, 1916, in Ashley, she was a daughter of the late John and
Mary (Yurishin) Demchak. She attended Ashley schools and was employed as a
sewing machine operator by A. Rifkin Co., Hanover Township. She was a member
of Holy Rosary Church and its Altar and Rosary Society, Ashley and the St.
Vincent De Paul Society, for many years.
She was preceded in death by infant sister, Martha Demchak.
Surviving are sisters, Mary Blunkus, with whom she resided; Elizabeth
Bryski, Ashley; a niece and nephew; and a great niece.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday from the George A. Strish Inc.
Funeral Home, 105 N. Main St., Ashley, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30
a.m. at Holy Rosary Church, Ashley, with the Rev. John Samson, officiating.
Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. The rosary will be
recited at 2 p.m. with the Rev. John Samson and members of the Altar and
Rosary Society and the St. Vincent De Paul Society, officiating. Members of
the Altar and Rosary and St. Vincent De Paul societies are to meet at 9:15
a.m. Saturday at the church to form a guard of honor.
