Joseph Iskra

    Joseph V. Iskra of East First Street, Wyoming, died Thursday at Hospice
Community Care Inpatient Unit at Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.
   
Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late Joseph and Rita (Galdun)
Iskra. He was a 1957 graduate of St. Nicholas High School, Wilkes-Barre. He
served with the Pennsylvania National Guard 109th Field Artillery. He was
employed as a cutter by United Pants Sportswear Co., Damsel Manufacturing and
the Sea Isle Sportswear Co. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman
Catholic Church, Pittston, the North End Slovak Citizens Club, Wilkes-Barre
the Slovak League of America and the Wyoming Hose Co. 2.
   
He was preceded in death by a brother, William.
   
Surviving are his wife of 27 years, the former Mary Ann Weiss; sister, Rita
Kelly, Wilkes-Barre; brothers, Bernard and Carl, Wilkes-Barre; James, White
Haven; George, Atlantic City, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews.
   
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday from the John V. Morris
Funeral Home, 625 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. at St.
John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Pittston, with the Rev. Andrew S.
Strish, officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery, Exeter.
   
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today. A Vigil service will be at 5 p.m.
   
Memorial donations may be made to the Sisters of SS. Cyril and Methodius,
c/o Villa Sacred Heart, Danville.
