Louise Breese, 91, of Philadelphia, died Monday at Chestnut Hill Hospital,
Philadelphia.
   
Born in Bessemer, Ala., she was a daughter of the late James and Amy
(Walthaw) Sands. She was educated in Wilkes-Barre schools and was a member of
Mount Zion Baptist Church, Wilkes-Barre, where she served as church mother for
many years. She was a founding member of the Negro Women’s Civic League,
Wilkes-Barre and was involved in the American Red Cross Wyoming Valley Chapter
Home Nursing Program.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent; son, Donald; and
brother, Arthur.
   
Surviving are son, Deacon James S., Wilkes-Barre; Beverly L., with whom she
resided, Philadelphia; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
   
Homegoing services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday from the Mount Zion Baptist
Church, 105 Hill St., Wilkes-Barre, with the Rev. George H. Smith,
officiating. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township.
   
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. until the time of
services Tuesday at the church.
   
Memorial donations may be made to Deacons Fund of Mount Zion Baptist
Church, Wilkes-Barre.
   
Arrangements are by the John V. Morris-Charles V. Leagus Funeral Home,
Wilkes-Barre.
