PLAINS TWP. – Commissioners at their Thursday night meeting lauded the
purchase of the third defibrillator in three months for the Fire Department.

The Cross Valley Credit Union, the Pellegrini family, Charles Obeid and
Ritsick Mechanical Contractors contributed to the purchase of the most recent
two devices, and the Plains Lions Club raised money for the first.
Resident Walt Wrazien of Laird Street asked commissioners how he can
protest a methadone clinic proposed for his street.

Township Solicitor Stephen Menn said Wrazien should talk to zoning officer

Rich Piekutowski.

Menn also said the recent denial of the occupancy permit can be appealed to
the Zoning Board, which would hold an advertised public hearing.

“As far as this board is concerned, they’re not involved with it,” Menn
said. If there is an appeal to an eventual Zoning Board decision, it would go
to the Luzerne County Court of Common Pleas, he said.
