EDWARDSVILLE – Police have caught a man they say ordered cameras, sold them
online and left the original purchase charges for someone else.

Donald Evans, 25, of Beech Street, Edwardsville Apartments, has been
charged with theft by deception and receiving stolen property, police said.
Evans ordered three Nikon cameras and one digital camera Feb. 14 from Galls
Inc. of Louisville, Ky., police said. Galls is a police supply company that
Edwardsville Police Department uses.
Evans had the bill sent to PPL Utilities and had the cameras sent overnight
to an Edwardsville Apartments unit where he was babysitting during delivery
time, said Chief John Soprano. But before the bill arrived, Evans sold the
cameras on the eBay auction site, police said. PPL got the bill on Friday,
March 7 and reported the incident.

Edwardsville police arrested Evans at his home at 9:15 p.m. Friday. He was
being taken for a night arraignment at Luzerne County Correctional Facility.

Soprano said Evans was wanted in similar crimes “all over the county”
including in Dallas and Nanticoke. The items were never sent to Evans’ home
and were billed to a variety of businesses.

“I don’t know why he thought he wouldn’t get caught.”

The cameras could not be recovered, but Evans will be ordered to pay
restitution if convicted, Soprano said.
