Richard Thompson of Schuler Street, Wilkes-Barre, died Friday at Mercy
Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.
   
Born Feb. 27, 1943, in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late Richard and
Rita (Donnelley) Thompson. He attended Wilkes-Barre schools and was employed
by St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Hanover Township, for many years. He
was a member of St. Mary’s Church of the Immaculate Conception, Wilkes-Barre.
    He was preceded in death by brother, William.
   
Surviving are his wife of 38 years, the former Lorraine Wienckowski; sons,
Richard, Buttonwood; Daniel, Hanover Township; Joseph, Wilkes-Barre; daughter,
Rose Simko, Wilkes-Barre; 10 grandchildren; sisters, Judy Hankey and Mary
Ellen Sims, both of Swoyersville; brothers, Thomas, Dallas; Edward, Exeter;
Bobby, Harveys Lake; and several nieces and nephews.
   
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m Monday from the Mamary-Durkin Funeral
Service, 59 Parrish St., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30
a.m. at St. Mary’s Church of the Immaculate Conception, Wilkes-Barre.
Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township.
