PROMOTIONS
    The Lion Brewery: Paul Price has been promoted to bottleshop and packaging
supervisor.
   
He is responsible for production, bottling and packaging of premium
beverages.
   
Previously, he was a machine operator and lead man.
   
A former Wilkes-Barre resident, he is a former U.S. Air Force airman.
   
Sugar Plum Unique Gifts & Gourmet Chocolate Delights: The firm has
announced the hiring of two staff members. Cindy Pritchard has been named
general manager and Christine Parker has been named corporate wholesale
accounts manager.
   
Lackawanna Insurance Group: The following employees have joined the claims
staff of the Wilkes-Barre-based workers’ compensation carrier:
   
Theresa Hasaka has been named medical case manager. A registered nurse,
she will work with the medical providers to coordinate and monitor the
treatment plans of injured workers.
   
Most recently, she was the nurse manager for a long-term health care
facility. She is a Plains Township resident.
   
Eileen Raineri and Susan Hohal have been named claims representatives.
   
Raineri and Hohal will be responsible for investigating newly reported
claims. Raineri is a Wanamie resident. She has more than 12 years workers’
compensation experience and worked for several workers’ compensation carriers.
   
Hohal is a Wilkes-Barre resident. She has more than 14 years workers’
compensation claims experience.
   
AWARD
   
Main Street Management Co.: Gerald Bavero, a financial consultant with
Bennington Financial Group of Lewisburg and a registered representative with
Main Street Management Co., has attained the Chairman’s Award for financial
planning and money management for 2002.
   
Bavero has been in the financial planning business for 23 years.
   
CERTIFICATIONS
   
Offset Paperback Manufacturers: The Dallas firm has been certified
compliant with the International Organization for Standardization 9001:2000
standard.
   
The standard requires the company to verify that internal and external
quality objectives are measurable and visible at relevant stages of the
production and manufacturing process. The standard also requires that the
objectives are key to the organization’s overall focus.
   
Since Oct. 14, 1997, Offset Paperbacks Quality Management System has been
in compliance with and certified to the ISO 9002:1994 standard.
   
Associated OB/GYN Specialists: Dr. Louis J. Freedman has been re-certified
for 2003 by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. The certification
was made under the board’s voluntary program for those who received lifetime
certification in earlier years.
   
A graduate of Wesleyan University, Middletown, Conn., Freedman earned a
degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.
   
Wyoming Valley Motors Subaru: The Kingston dealership has been certified as
a Stellar Performance Dealership by Subaru by America. Fewer than 15 percent
of all Subaru dealers nationally have completed the program.
   
ACCREDITATION
   

   
The Wyoming Valley Health Care System/University of Scranton School of
Nurse Anesthesia: The graduate level anesthesiology program has been
re-accredited for 10 years by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia
Educational Programs.
   
INTERNSHIP
   
Barry Isett & Associates: Jesse J. Evans of Larksville, a student at
Lincoln Technical Institute in Allentown, is an intern with the Trexlertown
firm.
   
He is working in the company’s architectural drafting design and CAD
technology program.
   
SEMINARS
   
Hanger Prosthetics & Orthotics: Joe “Pocono Joe” Ksiaskiewicz attended
the week-long Hanger Prosthetics & Orthotics Education Fair in Reno, Nev.
   
He is a certified prosthetist and orthotist.
   
Clear Brook Foundation: Patricia Colangelo presented a professional seminar
during the Texas Association For Marriage and Family Therapy Conference in
Dallas, Texas.
   
The seminar, co-presented with Dr. Suzanne Brent, was titled, “Creativity
in Systemic Family Intervention.”
   
NOTEWORTHY
   
Dr. Francis J. Collini: Collini, a Shavertown-based plastic surgeon, is
among the 1,500 board-certified plastic surgeons who, on average, performed
the highest volume of cosmetic surgical and non-surgical procedures in 2002,
according to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
   
Collini has been a society member since 1987. He is certified by the
American Board of Plastic Surgery and specializes in cosmetic surgery of the
face and body.
   
Dr. Victor F. Greco: The surgeon attended a meeting with top Congressional
leaders and President George Bush to explore ways to solve the medical
liability insurance crisis.
   
Greco attended in his role as chairman of the Pennsylvania delegation to
the American Medical Association.
   
A Drums resident, he is a retired general and thoracic surgeon.
