GREAT ARTICLE IN the paper regarding the weather hampering the spring
sports seasons? Here’s a question: Are the athletic directors going to do the
proper thing and push the beginning of the season back, so the coaches for
softball and baseball can get their teams properly prepared?

YOU CAN TAKE any two coaches from the Ice Box in Pittston and let them
coach the baby Pens and they’ll do a better job than the coaches up there
right now. Pittsburgh is going to do at the arena what the Phillies did at the
stadium. They’re going to wait until there’s no one buying tickets before they
make a change.
I’M SO HAPPY for the Bishop O’Reilly boys basketball program. It is about
time they had a coach at that school that stresses TEAMWORK. Go Queensmen.

I HAVE FOUR young boys who read your sports page daily including your
FanFare. Why would you print something that ends with, “I hate your guts.”
My kids are not even allowed to speak that way in this home, and yet you
obviously think it’s OK to print that.

I WANT TO congratulate Lane Filler on a great story he had about Willie
Weber, the wrestler from Lake-Lehman. Willie’s fans include his opponents.
Willie is a good student. He is a good citizen and I believe he will be heard
from again in the wrestling world.

I AGREE WITH with a recent writer in your FanFare. It is time to trade the
Patricks.

THE HOUSE THAT Bonvie built. The house that Frankie remodeled. The house
the Patrick brothers demolished.

I DON’T REMEMBER the name of the girls team who Bishop Hoban beat the other
day, but their coach was quoted as saying after the game that she didn’t think
that Bishop Hoban’s team was particularly skilled. Well, what does that make
her team if they lost to a team that doesn’t have a whole lot of skill?
