Joseph J. Tometchko, 73, of Atlantic Avenue, Edwardsville, died Saturday at
the Hospice Community Care Unit of Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.
   
Born in Larksville, he was a son of the late Stephen and Susan (Chackan)
Tometchko. He was a 1947 graduate of Larksville High School and attended
Temple University, Philadelphia. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean
War. He was employed by Intermetro Industries as a union representative and
contract negotiator. He was a member of the American Legion Post 132,
Wilkes-Barre, Knights of Columbus Assumpta Council 3987, Luzerne, Our Lady of
Czestochowa Fourth Degree Assembly. He was a member of St. John the Baptist
Church, Larksville, where he served as an altar server and eucharistic
minister.
    Surviving are his wife of 43 years, the former Fran Arcovitch; sons,
Thomas, Mountain Top; Joseph C., Jefferson; daughters, Sandra Tomasura, Bear
Creek; Karen Blannard, Severna Park, Md.; five grandchildren; brother,
Stephen, Dallas; and nieces.
   
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday from the Kopicki Funeral Home,
263 Zerbey Ave., Kingston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at
St. John the Baptist Church, Larksville. Interment will be in the parish
cemetery, Dallas.
   
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. The Knights of
Columbus Assumpta Council and Fourth Degree Assembly will recite the Rosary
and 8 p.m.
