Dr. Isadore Krasno, 87, of Wilkes-Barre, died Sunday evening, at
Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born Dec. 15, 1915, in Elizabeth, N.J., he was the son of the late Isaac
and Dora (Beinstein) Krasno. He was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School
and received a bachelors and a masters degree from Rutgers University, where
he was a fellow and a Phi Beta Kappa, receiving the Peter Spader prize in
history. He earned a doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania. He served
as chief of psychological services at the Department of Veterans Affairs
Medical Center, Plains Township. He was associate professor of Psychology at
Marywood University and an adjunct professor of Psychology at Kings College,
Wilkes University and Penn State University. He was also a part-time
psychotherapist in the Marywood Counseling Center. He served as a clinical
psychologist in the State Correctional Institution at Dallas, and had active
staff privileges at the Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre. He maintained a private
practice of clinical psychology in Wilkes-Barre. He completed psychological
evaluations for several nursing homes in Palm Springs, Calif. He was a
diplomate in clinical psychology of the American Board of Professional
Psychology and served on the first Pennsylvania State Board of Psychologist
Examiners. He was an eternal light member of Temple Israel and had served on
the Board of Trustees. He was a member of the Jewish Community Center and the
Pennsylvania Psychological Association and had served as president. He was an
associate member of the American Psychological Association.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and he received a
European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the
Bronze Star Medal for his service, and was a member of the Signal Corps.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Francine; and sister, Rebecca.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, the former Celia Goldberg; daughters,
Ina K. Lubin, Kingston; Miriam Krasno, Skokie, Ill.: and a granddaughter.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today at Rosenberg Funeral Chapel, 348
S. River St., Wilkes-Barre, with Rabbi Larry Kaplan and Cantor Ahron Abraham
officiating. Interment will be in Temple Israel Cemetery, Swoyersville.
Shiva will be observed at the home of Ina and Sheldon Lubin, 205 Joseph
Drive, Kingston, from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday; and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Wednesday and Thursday.

Wilkes-Barre.
