Mary Young

Mary Elizabeth Young, 86, of Wilkes-Barre, died Sunday at Smith Nursing and
Convalescent Home, Mountain Top.
Born Oct. 3, 1915, in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Patrick
and Nellie Gildea. She graduated from Meyers High School. She was a member of
St. Leo’s Church, Ashley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Byron; sisters, Doris Williams
and Beth Glasser.
Surviving are her daughters, Catherine Sunday, Hanover Township; Janet
Peake, New Jersey; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister,
Gertrude Schlude, Wilkes-Barre; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Thursday from the James M. Desiderio
Funeral Home Inc., 2 Academy Road, Marion Terrace, Hanover Township, with a
funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Leo’s Church. Interment will be in Albert
Cemetery, Mountain Top.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
