Mark Handel

    Mark D. Handel, 50, of Hudson Street, Plains Township, died Sunday at the
Department Of Veteran Affairs Medical Center, Plains Township.
   
Born July 8, 1952, in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of Mary Lou (Brennan)
Handel, Wilkes-Barre, and the late Morris Handel. He was a graduate of Pocono
High School and served with the U.S. Coast Guard from 1970 to
   
1972. He was employed as a chef for the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Phoenix, and
at Eddie’s Place, Plains Township. He was a member of American Legion Post
558, Plains Township.
   
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are sisters, Donna Loas and Laura
Swanson, Chicago; several nieces; fiancee, Kathy Kramer, Pittston.
   
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday from the McLaughlin Family
Funeral Service 142 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass at 9:30 a.m.
at St. Mary’s Church Of The Immaculate Conception. Interment will be in St.
Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township.
   
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.
   
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital,
501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn., 38105.
