WILKES-BARRE – A Luzerne County judge on Wednesday ruled Joseph Kapitula, a
candidate for Lake-Lehman School Board, cannot run on the Republican ballot.
   
James Mahon of Shavertown filed a challenge to Kapitula’s nomination
petition. Kapitula is a School Board member.
    Mahon asked for the nominating petition to be set aside from the Republican
ballot because the circulator of the petition was not a registered Republican
when circulating the petition. Court papers say the circulator was Kapitula.
   
After a hearing on the matter Wednesday, Court of Common Pleas Judge Mark
Ciavarella ruled Kapitula’s name should be removed from the Republican ballot.
