Norman Smalley

Norman H. Smalley, of Johnson Street, Pittston, died Tuesday at the
Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.
Born Nov. 25, 1914, in West Pittston, he was a son of the late Bert William
and Fanny (Schooley) Smalley. He was a graduate of West Pittston High School
and was an U.S. Army veteran of World War II, participating in the Battle of
the Bulge. He was employed as a control inspector by Celotex Corp., Harding.
He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Hughestown; the American
Legion Jenkins Post 938 and the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 12.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Dorothy Sutter; infant
brother and sister; brother, Edgar; sister, Helen Gay.
Surviving are his daughter, Rebecca Rosiak, Pittston; two granddaughters;
two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday from the Howell-Lussi Funeral
Home, 509 Wyoming Ave., West Pittston, with services at 11:30 at St. Peter’s
Lutheran Church, Hughestown, with the Rev. Peter Kuritz officiating. Interment
will be in Hughestown Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Jenkins Township
American Legion Post 938 will meet at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. Friday and
will conduct military services Saturday in the cemetery.
