/wyoming valley west After all these months of cold weather and snow, I am
looking forward to tomorrow, the first full day of spring.

The PIAA State Swimming and Diving Championships at Penn State University
in State College was an awesome experience for the participants. There were so
many exceptional athletes. I participated as part of our relay teams. Although
we did not medal, we dropped 4.5 seconds in our 400 relay and one second in
the 200 medley relay.
Congratulations to Shana Welch who placed third in the 50-yard freestyle
and fourth in the 100-yard freestyle.

Congratulations to my other relay teammates, Megan Panowicz, Erin Lehman
and Kim Perzia.

Penny Day will be held Wednesday and will help to fund the Operation Smile
Campaign. This organization helps with the alteration of facial deformities
for young children around the world.

The Wyoming Valley West Aquatics Club celebrates its 2002-2003 season of
water polo, swimming and diving with a banquet for all athletes on Saturday at
the Golden Palace in Wilkes-Barre.

This year’s school musical, “Mame,” will be presented March 26-29 under the
direction of Mrs. Elaine Bauer, high school English teacher, and Mr.
Christopher Wilski, high school chorus instructor. Curtain time is 7:30 p.m.
