WILKES-BARRE

Two students hurt
    in 2-vehicle crash

A crash between a pickup and luxury sedan injured two female Wilkes
University students Thursday afternoon, police said.

Faith Martin of Meshoppen and her passenger, Alicia Vieselmeyer of
Breesport, N.Y., were hurt when Martin ran a red light while headed eastbound
on South Franklin Street at about 4:43 p.m., police said. Police said Jimmy
Lee of Kingston was driving a black Cadillac Deville south on West Northampton
Street when it collided with the maroon Dodge Dakota Martin was driving.

The car hit the truck near the driver’s side door and got stuck in the
truck’s undercarriage. The car was partially dragged across the intersection.
Both Martin and Vieselmeyer were alert, but Martin was trapped by the crushed
door. She was freed about 5:12 p.m. Both were treated at local hospitals and
released, police said.
