Donald Belles

    Donald A. Belles, 80, of Oliver Lane, Laurel Run, died Wednesday at Hospice
Community Care Inpatient Unit at Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.
   
Born Dec. 14, 1922, in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late Charles and
Beatrice (Thomas) Belles. He was a graduate of Coughlin High School and was a
U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, serving in Europe. He was
employed at Liquid Carbonic Corp. for many years and later for the John Heinz
Institute and Rehabilitation Center. He was a member of Laurel Run Primitive
Methodist Church and served as the mayor of Laurel Run for many years. He
also served as police chief, was past president of the Laurel Run Volunteer
Fire Department and was an ambulance driver.
   
He was preceded in death by his sister, Marilyn Deets.
   
Surviving are his wife, the former Dorothy M. White; daughters, Sheila
Dziak, Plains Township; Lynn Engler, Tybee Island, Ga.; Bonnie Bankus, Sidney,
N.Y.; son, Gary Belles, Wilkes-Barre Township; 10 grandchildren; two
great-grandchildren
   
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at from the E. Blake Collins
Funeral Home, 159 George Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with the Rev. George Kropp,
officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Shrine Park, Carverton.
   
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today.
   
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Laurel Run Primitive
Methodist Church, Wilkes-Barre, or to Laurel Run Volunteer Fire Department.
