The peaceniks around the world are clamoring for peace, and President Bush
is being castigated for going to war. Shakespeare said through one of his
characters, “All the world’s a stage, and men and women merely actors.”
President Bush is an actor in the search for peace like an autumn leaf being
carried downstream by the river’s current.

The answer to peace lies not with President Bush, but within everyone of
us. Those who are clamoring so stridently for peace need to follow the example
of the people of Nineveh and the leaders of nations who will hold President
Bush responsible for war need to follow the example of the king of Nineveh.
Alone among the leaders of the world, John Paul II has got it right in
asking Christians to pray and fast for peace. Prayer needs to be followed by
acts of repentance, then there will be peace.

If we are to get off the track toward Armageddon, then the example of
Nineveh must be followed.
