I ATTENDED THE Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins game last night which was
March 19th, it was to my disbelief that I was patted down to check for any
weapons, but as I was walking in, I was handed an umbrella with a sharp point
on the end. Isn’t that funny considering we are at a time of high insecurity?
But if they have a promotion of a bobble-head doll, you have to pick that up
at the end of the game. That I couldn’t understand. This is something that
should be addressed.

WHY WILL POCONO Downs only show Pocono on the nights they run and not any
other tracks? They have to be losing money because they just lost my business.
I think everyone should ban together and close their electrical accounts.
EDITOR’S NOTE: But wouldn’t your house be dark then?

IN THE PAPER, there is never nothing about Coughlin in the sports section.
All you see is Hoban, Hoban, Hoban or Wyoming Area. I’d like to know if there
is a school called Coughlin because it’s never in the paper at all.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Sure there’s a school called Coughlin. It’s right behind
our building. As for Hoban, well its girls basketball team has been playing
the last month while Coughlin’s hasn’t. And this thing about Wyoming Area,
what’s that all about?

TO THE PERSON who wrote in about the Wyoming Area School District, the
person who was so embarrassed about the wrestling program. Well, I just want
to say I’m not embarrassed of the program. Whoever wrote this in, I thought it
was the teacher’s job to have the kids during the day, not the coach’s job.
Maybe if you and all the other people in the area would take more interest in
the sport, then maybe then we’d have a good program. I’m not embarrassed to
say it, but I think the program was very good this year.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Wyoming Area could only fill four weight classes on the high
school level. Don’t you think the students need to take some interest as well?

ABOUT THE WYOMING Area School District wrestling program. The coach they
had this year, John Ratajczak, did an excellent job with the kids. The kids
respect him and I believe the parents respect him as well. As far as people
writing in about the program, well obviously they don’t get involved with the
program so they wouldn’t really know. I really don’t think the person who
wrote in should have wrote it was an embarrassment. I’m involved with the
program as well as a lot of people I know. I believe the program is very good,
elementary, junior high and up.

IT’S MY ALL-AMERICAN right to boo when I go to a Wilkes-Barre/Scranton
Penguins game. If I want to cheer when they are playing good, I’ll cheer. And
when they play bad, I’ll boo them. … When you start paying for my ticket,
then you can tell me what I can and can’t do at a game. Until then,
boooooo!!!!

IN WEDNESDAY’S FAN FARE I read where some fan called in and said this is
the end of the road for the Bishop Hoban girls. They were right. It was the
end of the road. They lost to a good girls basketball team from Allentown
Central Catholic. How anyone could root against a local team, I don’t know? So
caller, gloat over your prediction and go on to live your little, miserable
life. Bishop Hoban will be back.

I SEE WHERE Meredith Alexis lost to Allentown Central Catholic. Excuse me,
Bishop Hoban lost to Allentown Central Catholic. All I can say is, thank
goodness. I’m sick of seeing her face all over the sports pages. Don’t you
realize there are other girls on that team and maybe they would have liked a
little recognition, too?

EDITOR’S NOTE: Maybe you should look at more than pictures. Every
significant contributor to Hoban’s success was either given recognition or
interviewed after a game at some point this season.
