John A. Benkoski, 77, of North Sherman Street, Wilkes-Barre, died Wednesday
at Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.
   
Born May 11, 1925, in Plymouth, he was a son of the late Anthony and Amelia
(Zekonis) Benkoski. He was a graduate of Plymouth High School and was a U.S.
Army veteran of World War II serving in Europe. He was a member of St.
Casimir’s Church, Lyndwood, and the Veterans of Foreign wars Post 1425,
Plymouth, and the Plymouth American Legion.
    He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Mary Musto; brother,
Anthony; sisters, Mary Glowiak, Helen Rudewicz, Leona Olenik and Victoria
Dowgiert.
   
Surviving are a sister, Delores Pawloski, Wilkes-Barre; and several nieces
and nephews.
   
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday from the S.J. Grontkowski
Funeral Home, 530 W. Main St., Plymouth, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10
a.m. at St. Casimir’s Church, Lyndwood. Interment will be in the parish
cemetery, Muhlenburg.
   
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
