Mary Sweeney
March 20, 2003
Mary L. Sweeney, 81, of Gruver Street, Alden, died Thursday at the Hospice
Community Care Unit at Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.
Born March 17, 1922, in Newport Township, she was a daughter of the late
Anthony and Marcella (Kovaleski) Margalis. She was employed at Penn Footwear,
Nanticoke and was a member of Corpus Christi Parish, St. Mary’s Church,
Wanamie and the Christian Mothers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James E.; brothers, Anthony Jr.
and Leonard; and sister, Florence Margalis.
Surviving are son, Dennis, Whitehall; daughters, Patricia Rymar, Alden;
Marilyn Davies, Scranton; Janice McKeague, Plains Township; three
grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, William, Lily Lake; and
sister, Marie Nespoli, Tucson, Ariz.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday from the Earl W. Lohman
Funeral Home, 14 W. Green St., Nanticoke, with a Mass of Christian Burial at
11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, Wanamie. Interment will be in the parish
cemetery.
Friends may call from 8:30 a.m. until the time of services Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice Community
Care, Kingston.
